Objective: To determine the association between the consumption of corticosteroid medications and wrist fracture in NHANES participants from the years 2017 - March 2020 pre-pandemic in the United States. Materials and Methods: The study was cross-sectional and analytical. It was obtained through the NHANES questionnaire and database for the years 2017-2020. The population, once adapted to the criteria, was 4983. The univariate analysis was through absolute and relative frequencies. The bivariate analysis of the categorical variables was performed by Pearson's Chi² with Rao Scott's correction and of the numerical variables, the Wald Test parametric test was used. In the multivariate analysis, generalized linear models with logarithmic linkage and Poisson regression with robust variances were used to calculate crude and adjusted prevalence ratios (PRs). The association was reported for prevalence reasons and 95% confidence intervals were included. Results: By associating the dependent and independent variable, an association was found in favor of a greater probability of presenting a wrist fracture when the person answered that they did consume corticosteroids, for > 6 months and ≤ 1 year (PR: 1.77 CI: 0.83 - 3.77). When adding the other variables to the regression model, the prevalence ratio in the same population decreased (PR: 1.57 CI: 0.52 - 4.74). Conclusion: No relationship was found between the consumption of corticosteroids and the presence of fracture; however, when relating the rest of the variables, an association was found with them.
