This research work was carried out in the facilities of the Research Program for the Use and Conservation of Water and its Resources (AQUAREC), of the Research Institute of the Peruvian Amazon (IIAP), at the Research Center "Carlos Miguel Castañeda Ruiz ”, Located in the hamlet of Bello Horizonte in the district of La Banda de Shilcayo - Tarapoto, department of San Martín, between the months of October and November 2015, with the aim of evaluating the influence of three diets on the raising of post larvae of the “brown carachama” Hypostomus hemicochliodon. 900 post larvae with length and initial weight of 1.69cm and 0.05g respectively were used, they were cultivated in 09 trays, 100 individuals were sown in each experimental unit (1200cm2) at a density of 0.8 fish per cm2 and for a period of 28 days. The post larvae were fed three diets T1 = Balanced feed 45% of crude protein; T2 = Phytoplankton (Scenedesmus, Chorella and Nannochloris) and T3 = Phytoplankton (Scenedesmus, Chorella and Nannochloris) plus Balanced feed 45% crude protein). A sampling of 10% of the population of each experimental unit was carried out every 7 days. The parameters were analyzed every three days at 7:30 and 19:30 hours of temperature (° C), dissolved oxygen (mg.l-1) using a YSI MODEL 55 multiparameter, ammonium (mg.l-1 ) and pH using a test kit for water analysis, model FF-1A, HACH. The treatment that obtained the highest growth in terms of length and weight was T3 (Scenedesmus, Chorella and Nannochloris), achieving a final length of 3.05 ± 0.003 cm and a final weight of 0.26 ± 0.002g. Regarding the zootechnical indices, a greater increase was found using the T3 treatment, however the results show that only balanced food could be used as the first feeding of the post larvae of this species. The survival of H. hemicochliodon post larvae was significantly affected (P> 0.05) between treatments, the highest being 97% with the T1 and T3 diets. The physical and chemical parameters analyzed were within the optimal range for this species. It´s concluded that the effect of diets with different doses of balanced food and phytoplankton apparently positively influence the growth and survival of Hypostomus hemicochliodon, being a great alternative to be used in aquaculture.
