This study offers evidence of the validity and reliability of the Objectified Body Consciousness Scale (OBCS) in Peruvian women older than 18 years residing in Metropolitan Lima. There were 306 participants. They responded to the Spanish version of the OBCS and to the already validated version of the Sociocultural Attitudes towards Appearance Questionnaire-4 (SATAQ-4). Confirmatory factor analysis shows that the original model did not show adequate values, due to three items that did not favor the model, therefore the structure was respecified, obtaining adequate values (x2 = 1919.9, gl = 210, p < 0.01, CFI = 0.95, TLI = 0.94, NFI = 0.86, RMSEA = 0.03, SRMR = 0.04). With factor loadings greater than 0.30 in all relationships. The factor structure has not ceased to be consistent with the theoretical and psychometric model proposed for the measurement of the variable. On the other hand, direct and statistically significant correlations were detected between the respecified model of the OBCS and the SATAQ-4, as indicators of concurrent validity (r = 0.74, p < 0.05). In addition, reliability was analyzed, finding values greater than 0.70 in its three dimensions of the scale. Therefore, it was recommended to continue reviewing the scale for similar contexts, in order to confirm the model under invariance criteria.
