Introduction: Skeletal muscle disorders develop as a result of repetitive stress on a specific part of the musculoskeletal system, in a given time. College students use electronic equipment daily, more so during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has caused significant musculoskeletal problems. Few studies have been identified that seek associations between the use of electronic equipment and MSDs, so it is relevant to consider the prevention of diseases that derive or are aggravated by the effects of places with ergonomic risk. Methodology: An analytical cross-sectional study was developed in students of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Private University of Lima during the academic periods 2020-1 and 2020-2. Students over 18 years of age who voluntarily agree to participate in the survey were included, students with current diseases that affect the musculoskeletal system and/or use medications such as corticosteroids or NSAIDs for a long time were excluded. Results: A total of 197 university students participated, of whom had an average age of 22 years, most of them female (72,1%). 91.4% of participants presented MSDs during the last 12 months. In the varied analysis, significant associations were found between the presence of MSDs in the elbow/forearm (p=0,04) and wrist/hand (p=0,003) and the use of hours of equipment. The adjusted analysis determined that participants who used electronic equipment for 12 hours or more had a 2,05 greater probability of presenting MSDs in the mentioned areas (3,11; CI-95% 1,09-8,85) (3,80; CI-95% 1,66-8,72), respectively. Conclusions: No significant association was found between the presence of MSDs and the number of hours of use of electronic equipment. In the adjusted multivariate analysis, significant associations were reported between MSDs in the elbow/forearm, wrist/hand, and hours of use of electronic equipment.
