In the present investigation, a description of the current economic and social characteristics of the families of the Layme community is carried out, with the purpose of comparing the results with a study carried out by PRODERM in the year 1980. The analysis emphasizes the changes technicians in agricultural activities and how from these, they have changed the housing conditions of families, allowing them to improve their income and living standards. The information was constructed through the application of a survey to the family units of the community, then a descriptive analysis of the current social and economic characteristics is addressed, comparing the most relevant aspects that changed in relation to the characteristics that the families showed in the year 1980. Finally, an econometric demonstration is tested in order to highlight the most important factors of production that contribute to the formation of income. Regarding the conditions of the families, the most important change occurs in the levels of education since currently 45% reach secondary education, 6% higher education and illiteracy is reduced to 1.3% compared to 35.8% of the population. year 1980. There is evidence of an improvement in housing conditions, which currently have water services, hygienic services and electricity, in addition to having road access to the different sectors of the community. The improvement in housing conditions is complemented by access to modernity through the use of radios, televisions, cell phones, computers, tablets and other household electrical devices, denoting an important change in their living conditions. Regarding changes in production, due to the division of communal land, families have a larger area of land and the provision of a sprinkler irrigation system, currently on average each family has 4 Ha. of land in dry land and 0.8 Ha. in irrigation. This is accompanied by an increase in the possession of new tools such as sprinklers, hoses and fumigation backpacks; With these resources, the portfolio of crops with corn and associated pastures has been expanded. The improvement in livestock was due to the introduction of new breeds of cattle such as the Brownsuiss and Fleming, leaving the Creole cattle, before this they were provided with new infrastructure, such as stables and sheds; the technified raising of guinea pigs was promoted, for which improved sheds were built. Both for productive activities and for better mobility of family members, these have been provided with new capital resources such as cars, linear motorcycles, motorcycle taxis, cargo motorcycles and tricycles, replacing the use of donkeys and horses. All this resulted in the improvement of the income of the families, being demonstrated that the factors that contribute the most to the formation of their income are technology and housing conditions, supported by the contribution of the labor force with a better level of education.
