The execution of this study is motivated by the fact of observing a reality in the educational system; a concern for academic performance, academic performance and length of stay, indicators that we allude to with the term Student Path What factors influence or condition the Student Path? How do socioeconomic variables affect student behavior during their time at the institution? Which socioeconomic variable is the most influential? How could we characterize or quantify the passage of students through the professional school? To answer these questions, we had to review the existing academic literature, build our own instrument to determine the Student Trajectory and establish the proper relationships for our research, the guiding question we answered was: How does the socioeconomic level of parents influence the student trajectory of the students of the 2016-I generation of the Professional School of Systems Engineering of the Andean University of Cusco? We chose a particular generation, the 2016-I generation, because it was the one that started a new curricular plan and we could do a better monitoring. The objective of the study was to determine the influence of the socioeconomic level of the parents on the construct that we call Student Trajectory, we had to relate different socioeconomic variables and associate them with the indicators of Student Trajectory, namely: Academic Performance, Permanence Time and Academic Performance. The work involved the review of the existing literature that gives scientific and technological support to the research. Following the steps of the scientific method: a non-experimental research design strategy of a relational nature is proposed to answer the research question; Given that the population is less than 100, we work with the entire population of 52 students who register activity at the end of the first semester, establishing and achieving the objectives to finally analyze the certainty of the hypotheses. For the statistical tests we use the chi square test of independence, to confirm or rule out the relationships. The results of the investigation translate into the following most important conclusion: The chi-square test of independence was used, obtaining some relationships between the socioeconomic variables of the parents with some components of the Student Trajectory of the students of the 2016 generation- I from the School of Systems Engineering of the Andean University of Cusco. Among these socioeconomic variables is the educational level of the mother, which influences the Student Trajectory, (X-squared = 50.025, df = 12, p-value = 1.383e-6). The educational level of the father is not related to the Student Path. (X-squared = 10.312, df = 10, p-value = 0.4135) Note that the economic aspect is not related to the Student Path either. At the end we reached some practical suggestions and recommendations.
