In this study, an investigation was conducted on the characteristics of the entrepreneur in the positioning of startups and SMEs. To this end, the following question was posed: what are the characteristics of the entrepreneur that affect the positioning of his startup or SME? It is worth mentioning that this is a qualitative research, based on the reading, analysis, and contrast of positions of the authors of the scientific articles consulted. In addition, three specific objectives related to the topic have been established, which are: first, the entrepreneur's capacity for innovation, since it allows him/her to establish strategies to introduce and position products, services, and brand concepts in the market. Secondly, there is the entrepreneur's experience, since the knowledge and skills acquired throughout his professional life contribute to his confidence, and to the performance of the business. Thirdly, there is training, since the theoretical knowledge acquired supports the creation of ideas, self-confidence, and entrepreneurial development to take greater risks. Through the analysis of the articles, it has been established that innovation, experience, and training are relevant for the positioning of startups and SMEs. However, they do not have a relevant effect on their own, but in combination with other factors and with each other.
