The present research work has the objective to determine if the signaling theory is fulfilled in the Peruvian labor market. Because of this, an estimation of the income of dependent workers was carried out using the National Household Survey (ENAHO) database for the year 2019. The methodology used is the Heckman two-stage method, as it corrects for selection bias. Finally, the results show that the educational level of individuals plays the role of a signal, and in particular, having completed higher education has a greater impact on income.
