Background: Today, talking about high-resistance aesthetic dental restorations implies talking about zirconium ceramic systems, which have become important due to their good mechanical and physical properties and their good biocompatibility. Objective: To evaluate the microshear bond strength of a zirconium ceramic with different alkaline treatment protocols with lithium hydroxide. Materials and Methods: This study is of an in vitro experimental type. Thirty zirconium discs with a diameter of 19 mm and a height of 5 mm were made and subjected to microshear forces in an ODEME universal testing machine, at a speed 0.75mm/min until one fails. Results: There was no microshear resistance of the zirconium ceramics with the alkaline lithium hydroxide treatment. On the contrary, there was a significant difference in the microshear resistance of the zirconium ceramic with primer and without lithium hydroxide alkaline treatment. Conclusion: According to the results of our work, the alkaline treatment with lithium hydroxide did not increase the microshear bond strength values in zirconia.
