This study examines the macroeconomic and institutional factors that determine the flows of foreign direct investment in the member countries of the Pacific Alliance in the period 2002-2016. The econometric panel data technique with instrumental variables is used. According to the Hausman test, the random effects method is used. Government effectiveness, political stability and rule of law are taken as instrumental variables and as regulatory instrument, regulatory quality. The eclectic paradigm approach, better known as the OLI model (Ownership, Location, Internalization) is used by its acronym in English developed by Dunning (1980). The results indicate that an increase in the inflation rate leads to a reduction in direct foreign investment. And, on the other hand, increases in regulatory quality, real GDP, direct taxes, country risk and a depreciation of the real exchange rate lead to an increase in foreign direct investment to the Pacific Alliance countries.
