Today, balanced nutrition and its chemical composition is the nutritional basis of living beings, especially humans. Goal. Determine the centesimal composition and secondary metabolites of Portulaca Oleracea (verdolaga). Methodology. Regarding the centesimal composition, it was determined from a fresh sample by the Association of Official Analytical Chemists (AOAC) method, and for the phytochemical analysis, ethanolic, chloroform and petroleum benzine extracts were used, by the method of Schabra and Cols. The sample was collected in the Ushpacaño – Itaya River area, geographically located at 3° 46´ 49.0” North South latitude and 73° 14´ 11.8´´ East West longitude, then it was sent to the HERBARIUM for taxonomic identification. Outcome. Regarding the yield percentage results, it was 5.86%, 4.10% and 2.10% for the ethanolic, chloroform and petroleum benzine extracts, respectively. Regarding the results of centesimal composition, it was for humidity 91.85%, ash 2.21%, protein 2.32%, lipids 0.40%, carbohydrates 3.1056% and dry matter 8.15%. And as for the phytochemical screening analysis, an abundant presence of steroids, phenols and saponins was evidenced, and a low amount of saponins, as well as a low amount of flavonoids in the chloroform extracts and petroleum benzine, abundant carotenoids and fatty compounds were found in the Petroleum benzine extract and a small amount of reducing sugars in the ethanolic extract and petroleum benzine, and also a small amount of catechins in the chloroform extract.
