The increase in older adults requires primary caregivers represented by a family member who are dedicated to their care, do not receive help to carry out this type of work and may suffer biopsychosocial alterations in their daily life. Objective: To determine the level of burden of the primary caregiver in the care of the elderly user of the Maternal and Child Center”- Zapallal, 2019. Material and Method: A prospective non-experimental descriptive study with a cross-sectional quantitative approach. The unit of analysis was 50 primary caregivers selected according to selection criteria. The data collection technique was the survey, the Zarit scale, Likert type, was applied as an instrument to evaluate the overload that consisted of 22 items, divided into three dimensions, 6 questions in the physical dimension, 9 questions in the emotional dimension and 7 questions in the social dimension. The databases were stored in the Microsoft Excel program, later presented in statistical tables. Results: In relation to social overload, the table shows that 34% of primary caregivers do not present overload, while 36% present slight overload and 30% present intense overload. Conclusions: More than half of the primary caregivers present some level of burden between mild and intense; protruding the level of slight overload.
