The study entitled Motivation and its relationship with the improvement of the learning of secondary school students, in the area of Social Sciences, of the Public Educational Institution No. 0032 of the District of Morales, Province and Region San Martín; its general objective was to determine the relationship between motivation and learning in students. The sample consisted of 212 students, the focus was quantitative correlational type and non-experimental design, using questionnaires as a data collection instrument. The results showed that the motivation in the students was low by 45%, because they showed interest in doing their homework. With regard to learning in the area of Social Sciences, a low level was presented. It concludes that there was a significant relationship between motivation and learning, this was corroborated by the application of the Rho statistical test of Spearman, where the sig. (Bilateral) was less than the 0.05 margin of error. Also, the degree of correlation was positive positive 0.720. In this way the research hypothesis was accepted.
