SUMMARY: The characteristic age of outpatients treated at the Hospital Regional de Loreto "Felipe Arriola Iglesias” from December 2014 to February 2015 was 70.96 (SD: + 6,948), with a minimum age of 61 years and a maximum of 89 years. It distributing this variable was found that in 61-70 years accounted for 51.7% (62), those of 71-80 years, 38.3% (46), and greater than or equal to 81 years were 10% (12). 51.7% (62) were male, with 48.3% (58) of the Female Sex. 53.3% (64) are cohabiting, 25% (30) are widowed and 21.7% (26) were married, not having results for single and divorced. OBJECTIVE: This study was aimed to determine the characteristic of insomnia in older adult outpatients Hospital Regional de Loreto. December 2014-February 2015 DESIGN: Transversal study and prospective MATERIALS AND METHODS: To elderly patients who attended an outpatient at Loreto Regional Hospital (n = 120) was surveyed RESULTS: 33.3% (40) of outpatients treated at the Hospital Regional de Loreto "Felipe Arriola Iglesias" from December 2014 to February 2015 showed absence of Clinical Insomnia. While 57.5% (69) had Insomnia Clinical Sub, 9.2% (11) Insomnia Clinical, Clinical Moderate and none Grave. 9 CONCLUSION: Insomnia should be considered as a diagnosis for their high prevalence in this study which should be present as problematic in our region.
