The research was carried out with the objective of evaluating the perceptions of the population about the social and economic externalities of the sewerage service in the city of Iquitos, Maynas province, Loreto region, 2019. The type of research was observational, because there is no intervention by the researcher; prospectively, the necessary data will be collected for the purpose of the investigation; cross-sectional since all variables will be measured on a single occasion and analytical because explanatory hypotheses will be tested. The research design was descriptive and cross-sectional, explanatory, because the purpose is to explain the behavior of one variable as a function of another, based on a cause-effect relationship. For the present investigation, taking into account the characteristics, the population will be the entire population of the Iquitos district. The sample is defined by the residents at intersections of the streets of the city of Iquitos where there is a greater impact of floods when it rains due to the inadequate functioning of the sewage system. The results obtained show us that the social externalities obtained from the study have been grouped into: psychophysiological disorders, cardiovascular conditions, school retardation, aggressive behaviors, attention problems and coexistence difficulties. Therefore, the null hypothesis is accepted, showing that there are social and economic externalities in the sample of this study.
