Theories of economic growth and development argue that when employment grows the Gross Domestic Product does too. Under this postulate, this thesis is aimed at demonstrating the relationship between Employment and the Gross Domestic Product of the Loreto region during the 2013-2017 period. For this purpose, the following Quantitative research was carried out, Correlational level and non-experimental design. The investigation concludes that there is no relationship between Employment and the Gross Domestic Product in the five-year period studied, a statement that is obtained as a result of the Correlation Coefficient (r) that was r = -0.666342946; very far value at +1 and -1; and, in addition, the Correlation Coefficient (R2) reached the value of R2 = 0.44412922; also away from 1; which means there is no relationship or determination between employment (independent variable) and Gross Domestic Product (dependent variable). Likewise, Employment, measured by the Economically Active Occupied Population (Occupied PEA), had a variable evolution; In addition, the annual average was 498,651 people with an annual variation of 0.81%. The Gross Domestic Product also had a variable evolution obtaining the lowest value in 2016 reaching the amount of S /. 7,602,217.00 thousands equivalent to a fall of 11.44% compared to last year. Informal Employment accounts for 82.18% of the Occupied PEA and is the main problem.
