The aim of this project was to determine the economic valuation of the environmental service of carbon capture for commercial forest species in a low-hill forest located in Tahuamanu, Madre de Dios. 9006 trees, grouped into 17 species, 15 genera and 07 botanical families comprised the floristic composition of the low-hill forest. D. odorata and M. balsamun held the highest number of tree individuals of 2 487 and 1 558, respectively. D. odorata, M. balsamun and A. cearensis showed the highest lumber volume of 13 280 m3 7 029,3 m3 and 6 056,5 m3, respectively. The total above-ground biomass of commercial species was estimated in 76 960,5 t, where D. odorata contributed with the highest amount of 27 489.7 t, followed by M. balsamun with 12 336,4 t and A. cearensis with 7 140,6 t. The amount of CO2 sequestered was estimated in 141 080,2 tCO2 , where D. odorata, M. balsamun and A. cearensis showed the highest amount of 50 392,7 tCO2 , 22 614,5 tCO2 and 13 089,9 tCO2, respectively. The economic valuation of lumber in the low-hill forest amounted S/. 14 280,2/ha; D. odorata and M. balsamun showed the highest amount of S/.3 385,9/ha and S/. 2 133,4/ha, respectively. The economic value of CO2 sequestration reached a total of S/. 7 888 642,47, where D. odorata presented the highest economic value of S /. 2 817 758,45.
