Objective: Evaluate the level of self-care knowledge of diabetic foot in Regional Hospital of Loreto´s patiens, 2019. Methodology: The type of study was cross-sectional, prospective, descriptive and observational, of epidemiological design. The sample consisted of 200 patients who attended the outpatient clinics of endocrinology specialty during the month of March, who met the inclusion criteria. The data was collected in a validated survey, to classify the level of knowledge in low, medium and high. Results: The knowledge levels were, low (23.5%), medium (53%) and high (23.5%). Regarding sex, the distribution was female (77.5%) and male (22.5%). Regarding the time of illness, the distribution was from 1 day to 10 years (68%), 11 to 20 years (21.5%), from 21 to 30 years (8%) and greater than 30 years (2.5%). As for the age group, the distribution was from 26 to 40 years (9%), from 41 to 55 years (29%), from 56 to 70 years (50%) and over 70 years (12%). As for marital status, the distribution was single (28%), cohabiting (22.5%), married (38.5%), widowed (8%) and divorced (3%). Regarding the degree of instruction, the distribution was illiterate (2%), complete primary (12.5%) and incomplete (22%), complete secondary (27.5%) and incomplete (23.5%), technical complete (3%) and incomplete (0.5%), full university (5.5%) and incomplete (3.5%). Regarding the value of glycosylated hemoglobin (HbAc1), the distribution was ≥ 7% (77.5%) and < 7% (22.5%). Of the total number of patients, respecting to foot inspection, they do it (93%) and they do not (7%). 100% admitted to washing their feet. Regarding the drying of the feet, they do it (89.5%) and they do not (10.5%). Regarding the hydration of the feet, they do it (41.5%) and they do not (58.5%). Regarding the cut of nails, use nail clippers (79%), blunt tip scissors (5.5%), and other instruments of high risk of injury (15.5%). Regarding the use of footwear, 90.5% wear loose and 9.5% wear tight or pointed or high heeled. Respecting the exercises, they consider it important, yes (78%) and not (22%). Respecting the medical evaluation of the feet they received it, yes (12%), never (88%). They know what the diabetic foot is, yes (34%) and not (66%). They know which organs affect diabetes, yes (82%) and no (18%). They know the warning signs when the foot starts some complication, yes (52%) and not (48%). They know what factors decompensate the patient and their feet, yes (55%) and no (45%). Conclusions: The level of knowledge that most prevailed was the average level in 53%. The average time of illness was related to the level of knowledge, with 5.8 years in the low level, 9.5 years in the medium level, and 13.1 years in the high level. The average value of glycosylated hemoglobin was related to the level of knowledge, with 9.07% of HbAc1 in the low level, 8.82% in the medium level and 8.21% in the high level.
