The present work was carried out to collect data regarding the type of diet, body composition and nutritional status of students at the primary level of the I.E. No. 60826 "Eleodoro Bustamante" of the city of Iquitos. The research is of a non-experimental, descriptive correlational type, with a cross section; with a sample of 197 schoolchildren; Instruments such as food consumption frequency surveys, a nutritional evaluation form, and body composition were used, which collected data on food, nutritional status was determined by BMI / E, T / E and for the coporparal composition the percentage of fat was used. It was found that 49.3% have a healthy diet, 35.6% unhealthy and 15.1% unhealthy; Likewise, it was identified that 49.8% are in a normal nutritional state and that 5.6%, 0.5%, 29.5%, 11.1% and 3.5%, reported a nutritional state with risk of thinness, thinness, risk of overweight, overweight and obesity according to the BMI / Age indicator; Similarly, for the Height / Age indicator, it was identified that 82.3% presented normal T / E, and that 16.2% had a risk of short stature, 0.5% with short, severe, and tall stature respectively; Body composition showed that 50.7% have optimal fat, in addition 0.5%, 4.6%, 23.9% 15.8%, and 4.6% showed very low, low, moderately high, high and very high fat mass according to the methodology of Slaughter, similarly 58.7% an adequate fat percentage, 9.8%, 18.2% and 13.2% showed a low, moderately high and high fat percentage according to the Deurenberg equation; It was also evidenced at a confidence level of 95% that there is a statistically significant relationship (p <0.05), Spearman's Rho (0.785) between diet and nutritional status according to BMI / age, with a value of p = 0.000; Likewise, there is a statistically significant relationship (p <0.05) between the body composition according to Slaughter, Weststrate and Deurenberg, with the nutritional status according to the BMI / age, with a value of p = 0.000; and a Spearman Rho (0.896), (0.885) respectively.
