The present research was carried out in the Loreto region, with the objective of determining the situational state and identifying the sources of competitive advantage of Loreto sawn wood through the analysis of the value chain. The research is of a qualitative type, based on the collection of primary and secondary information based on bibliographic compilation, surveys and interviews with those involved in the value chain. According to the results obtained, the main conclusions are: 06 are the species with adequate characteristics for the production of timber products: cumala, capinuri, lupuna, capirona, tornillo and shihuahuaco. The wood in obtained boards is sold in the local market for 12 to 15% of participation, the national market participates with 70 to 75% and the export market does so with only 8 to 10%. The Loreto region does not have the necessary infrastructure (machinery) to add more to the wood and achieve greater value from the products produced. The costs of producing wood sawmills are onerous, which means that entrepreneurs cannot make major investments to transform and improve the added value of wood products. Productive companies do not meet profitability targets. The main problems identified are closely related to the low quality of the products, low added value.
