This thesis proposes the renovation and reinterpretation of Baratillo Market in Rímac district by generating public spaces that address the old dynamic of the market plazas during colonial times. The project is structured with the market in its core and will be complemented by a program of turistical interest such as cooking workshops and the Peruvian Museum of Gastronomy. The objective of this complex is to promote dynamically peruvian gastronomy and to give a new life to this ancient building, by creating a harmonic contrast between the existing architecture and the new intervention. Finally, the project seeks to generate value in this area of Rímac district through quality public spaces for the residents, and also by the integration of the building into the cultural circuits of downtown Lima.
