In Peru, there is a growth in the export of products, however, it is also appreciated that the contribution of PBI of this sector to the state has been decreasing in recent years and it's for this reason which it is necessary to incorporate best management practices to improve productivity and raise the competitiveness of the small medium enterprise (SME). This study is expected to become a role model of Cotton Supply Chain Management (SCM) based on best sub-process practices applied in the industry. Also, the purpose is to explore the Peruvian Cotton Supply Chain, identifying and analyzing the actual management of the processes. Discussing the application of documents and indicators of standardization work in SCM is presented. Building an organized step to support the growth of cotton SME in the long term. The claim that best practices reduces costs is objected to in its general form. The reduction of costs is dependent on how understandable are the SCM processes and the form of supplier integration to the target audience (farmers). The paper presents a more detailed analysis of the impacts have in SCM. This includes a discussion on how to influence the implementation of standardization. Finally, worth noting that the research was based on sources of information from researchers with experience in different scenarios worldwide.
