The graphic industry in Peru grew in a 20% in comparison with the past year. However, since it is composed mostly by small and medium businesses, they have an issue regarding the orders fulfillment. On average a 37% of the companies from the graphic industry fail to deliver their orders on schedule. This study focuses in a company that has been suffering a reduction in their profit margins from 17% to 5% in two years. This was related to an operating cost increase associated with order unfulfillments. The order unfulfillment’s motives are the presence of unproductive time and the unavailability of raw materials to begin with the production. The root causes of the identified problem are a layout deficiency and the presence of delays caused by a disorder in the production area. The study proposes the implementation of a pilot plan for the 5S methodology and SLP for the mentioned causes. The pilot plan applies Seiri, Seiton and Seiso. Shitsuke and Seiketsu were developed in a conceptual level. In addition, a new plan layout and process flow was developed after the implementation of SLP. The study concludes that with the implementation of the proposed model a 31.6% reduction in the cycle time, as well as a 21.7% reduction in moving distances were achieved. Finally, a 65% improvement in the orders fulfillment is accomplished.
