The objective of this study was to identify the relationship between coping strategies and satisfaction with life in 408 adults who study and work in a private university in Metropolitan Lima, where 225 were women and 183 were men. We applied the Inventory of Estimation of Coping (COPE 60) created by Carver, Scheier and Weintraub (1989), adapted by Cassaretto and Chau (2015). Also, the Life Satisfaction Scale created by Diener, Emmons, Larsen and Griffin (1985), adapted by Paredes (2015). The results indicate two significant correlations. It obtained positive relationship, where more planning, active coping and positive reinterpretation and growth, there is greater satisfaction with life. It obtained negative relationship, where a greater focus and release of emotions, there’s less satisfaction with life. That means that the use of different coping strategies determines how satisfied the person is with his life.
