The design of the research used was: descriptive - correlational and cross-sectional. The population and sample consisted of average mothers with children under one year, who received medical care the last 3 months at Growth and Development Health Center San Juan Bautista - Ayacucho, which value is 95. Results: On one hand, 44.2% of Children under 1 year, who received medical care at the Health Center of San Juan Bautista, had early commencement of complementary feeding, on the other hand, 67.4% had normal nutritional status, and 32.6 % revealed acute malnutrition. The statistical significance was presented between the age of onset of complementary feeding and the nutritional status of children under 1 year. The 75.7% of mothers have 20-35 years, 57.9% first-time pregnant women, 43.2% secondary education level, 62.1% from urban areas with 71.6% low socioeconomic status. Conclusions: The 44.2% Children under 1 years had early commencement of complementary feeding. A significant percentage (32.6%) had acute malnutrition and the study also found a link between the age of onset of complementary feeding and the nutritional status of children under 1 year.
