The present investigation called: Design of the bearing capacity of the soil of the town of Zapatero in the district of Zapatero - province of Lamas - San Martin region, aims to study, identify, evaluate the types of soil that exist in the urban area of the town and determine its bearing capacity, in order to use them in the construction of buildings, so as to identify practical and scientific solutions to the problem of building without knowing the real behaviour of the soil, avoiding settlements and deterioration of the structures, visibly affecting the ornament and directly affecting the quality of life of users. In this way, to actively participate in the development of new and innovative knowledge for the welfare of society and science. The research methodology was descriptive, on which we sought to specify and analyse the geological and geotechnical characteristics of soils, using special equipment and accessories of the Reference Laboratory of our University. Laboratory tests of moisture content, consistency limits (atterberg), granulometric analysis, field density, direct shearing and soil classification were carried out, taking into account the established standards in force. These tests also made it possible to determine the physical and mechanical properties of the foundation soil, as well as the type of soil and its characteristics. The soils were classified by the SUCS method, which indicates the presence of fine-grained soils throughout the sector divided into fine-grained soils of the CL clayey type, with medium moisture percentage, the admissible capacity in Zone I with a foundation depth of -1.50 metres and a foundation width of 1.00 metre is between 10.36 to 14.38 Kg/cm2 with an average admissible capacity of
