The purpose of this research is to determine the relationship between attitudes and the learning of English as a foreign language in the subject of English I, in the students of the first cycle of a Private University of Lima, during 2019-II. A quantitative methodology, correlational level, non-experimental and cross-sectional design were used with a non-probability sample of 210 students. Both the survey and evaluation technique were used and a questionnaire and a knowledge test were used as instruments. The results indicated that the participants have a low level in learning English as a result of their attitudes. The applied knowledge test showed that in the components of the English subject, such as Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking, most of the students have low grades, being located at a low (51.4%) and basic (31 %) and, only in some cases, high and higher. It is concluded that the attitudes and the learning of English as a foreign language are directly and significantly related in the students of the first cycle of a Private University of Lima, 2019-II.
