ABSTRACT This thesis deals with the topic of thermal comfort in housing in the city of Rioja in the Alto Mayo valley where the demand for housing in the coming years and the gradual and constant increase in temperature are a scenario of direct application for Results of this research from a proposal with bamboo as native material. For this, it was proposed to determine if the bamboo constructive systems contributed to the thermal comfort of the spaces. Therefore, a field survey and information gathering had to be done based on a methodology based on survey cards and charts that Allowed to order the data found for analysis and synthesis. In that it emphasizes the knowledge of bamboo (guadua angustifolia) as material and constructive system for which one had to go to selected bibliography, normativity and to analyze real cases, in the residential section. It was determined that there is a direct relationship between the bamboo construction systems and the thermal comfort conditions of the delimiting spaces, which is based on a physical property of the materials called Thermal Transmittance. For this reason, as part of the analysis, we had to resort to virtual testing with prototypes. Data were obtained on the superior thermal behavior of bamboo compared to other materials used in the study area (Rioja city). Finally, it is important to emphasize that this research will promote the use of bamboo (guadua angustifolia) as a constructive material with which buildings of great formal and spatial richness can be obtained, generating welfare for its users. Parallel to its thermal qualities, its use in the study area and its context is favorable since the study area and the Alto Mayo Valley is a seismic zone.
