ABSTRACT This research studies the variation of marginal strip for different return periods in the river Chonta section bridge La Rinconada Otuzco - suspension bridge Baños del Inca, District of Baños del Inca province of Cajamarca, for which the following procedures were applied: survey , preparation of digital terrain model, characterization of the basin, treatment of rainfall information, calculation of maximum flow (by the method of curve number and return periods of 5, 10, 25, 50, 100 and 250 years), hydraulic modeling (for each flow) and finally determining the marginal strip. HiroEsta, HEC HMS and HEC RAS for numerical hydrologic and hydraulic correspondingly modeling, in addition to mapping information (obtained from ASTER images Gdem) and satellite imagery (Lansat7): In addition to the development of this research tools such as were used. From the results we have for a Tr = 5 years, 1.6% have a width of 5 m, 84.7% a width of 10 m and 13.7% a width of 25m; Tr = for 10 years, 80.3% has a width of 10 m and 19.7% a width of 25 m; Tr for = 25, 63.4% has a width of 10 m and a width of 36.6% 25 m; for Tr = 50, 53.0% have a width of 10 m and 47.0% a width of 25 m; Tr = 100 for years 39.9% has a width of 10 m and 60.1% a width of 25 m finally for Tr = 250 years, 26.8% have a width of 10 m and 72.7% a width of 25 m. We may also mention that the marginal strip for Tr = 100 years, has a distribution of widths to suit the presence of human settlements and agricultural areas, adapting to a minimum width of 25 m proposed in the guidelines and rules for the delimitation of girdles marginal force in Peru; so one can say that the marginal strip flyback for 100 years is what provides the best conditions section under study.
