ABSTRACT The present study conducted on the implementation of Specto monitoring for Cummins diesel engines in the maintenance area of Minera Yanacocha S.R.L; The objective was to determine the influence of the implementation of the Specto monitoring system in order to reduce the time in the interventions due to failure in Cummins diesel engines of the equipment in the company Minera Yanacocha S.RL. It was initially developed with a diagnosis of maintenance management during the first semester of 2017, in which it is observed that there are three main systems of the Hitachi blades with greater problems such as: Hydraulic, rail and diesel engine. For this reason, the implementation of satellite monitoring for Cummins engines was chosen, as this represents one of the main systems failures. This Specto monitoring implementation was chosen for Cummins engines; since this system has been working in other national and international mining projects, and has given good results. The diagnosis after the implementation was as follows: The availability of engines was initially found at 98.53% and then at 99.09%, with a 0.56% difference in the availability of engines during the second half of 2017. The MTBFS (Mean Time Between Failure Stops) with an initial of 573.8 hours and after the implementation 700.7 hours; the time was improved by 126.9 more hours. The MTBS (Mean Time Between Stops) with an initial of 354.7 hours and after the implementation 392.4 hours; that is, the time was improved by 37.7 more hours. The MTTR (Average Time to Repair). With an initial of 8.6 hours and after the implementation with 6.5 hours; that is, the time was reduced by 2.1 hours less. The evaluation of Cost-Benefit, came out positive, with a value of 6.9. Keywords: Cummins engines, Specto monitoring, failure, availability.
