Over time, man has recognized that he has something to communicate. He learned that trough using symbols, gestures and movements, he can achieve this purpose. However, He has also learned that the more civilized and complex his lifestyle has become, the space requirements have also been changing with it because of, this latest thing, has a limited use in time. The production of this “something”, in relation with the place, time and customs that each person has, is been called: Culture. Man has started to name the spaces he uses according to the sort of the activity done or the function such activity recommends. (Eg.: A passage, that warned us to be a space for transit) These nomenclatures are applied to the buildings up to these days. Applying these last ideas to the praxis of the actual cultural buildings, these changes about the spaces requirements warned us that buildings should lend themselves to a constant variation in the building lifetime. However, buildings are getting compacter, summarized and they answer to even more rigid functions (to an accurate and direct need in time), purposing to meet a broad architectural program with environments that become "multipurpose" and not exactly lend themselves unfit to carry out many activities. Many of these buildings have not been prepared for the development of cultural activities. On the other hand, it adds to the problem the conformity of society. The disregard for the issue and the population support on low quality community projects - in this case cultural facilities - and informal circumstances to place events of the same type cause a series of social and urban consequences in practice, in a modern society called now "more civilized " disorder, pollution, crime, among others; as well as typical buildings insecurities: problems to evacuate the building, structural insecurity, hurried deterioration of the exhibits on them. The goal, then, of this research is to acquire the necessary knowledge that can get the variables of spatial proportion (within the occupation and development of urban activities) and the spatial flexibility (study of the versatility of the occupational module culture in the city) to achieve an architectural project of a Cultural center where all the cultural needs can be satisfied: urban and social by giving them a place of performance and celebration more affordable and similar to what they require.
