ABSTRACT The present thesis, is elaborated with the objective of improving the process of sealing outer envelopes, minimizing the costs of packaging a surgical suture in the production area, sealed section, surgical suture is a medical material used in general surgery, And are distributed in hospitals, clinics and health centers. This improvement is due to an increase in sales generated by the commercial area, which is why it is sought within the processes to reduce the manufacturing costs of such product, in the section of put in an envelope and sealing presents, the opportunity to reduce said Costs, since packaging material imported from Germany is used at a high cost. The methodology used to proceed with the improvement in the production area, section covered is the 7Ms theory of productivity, which details and analyzes each of the Ms, raw material, labor, method of work, machine, Environment, measurement and managing. In this process of implementation of improvement, it was necessary to manufacture a machine with the company's own resources in order to lower the unit cost of an external envelope, this was done without major complications because the human resource that participated in it had the Opportunity to apply their knowledge as well as opportunity for personal and professional development. The results obtained after the improvement were clearly visible through cost comparisons between before and after improvement. Finally, we present the conclusions about the improvement in the reduction of manufacturing costs of a surgical suture, in the process of sealing external envelopes, allowing to optimize and reduce unit costs, S /. 0.10 soles that initially cost is reduced to S /. 0.04 soles obtaining with this a saving by each envelope in S /. 0.06 soles, thus achieving a saving of S /. 642.20 soles per day, monthly saved S /. 14 128.40 soles considering 22 days of work, and for each year a saving of S /. 169 540.80 soles, with this result achieved the proposed objective and thus an effectiveness in the sales of sutures making the final product more profitable in the company Tagumedica S.A.
