The white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus peruvianus) is a ruminant of the family Cervidae that is managed as a game species in the Sauce Grande area of Coto de Caza El Angolo (CCEA) and is the only genus of the species in the country. White-tailed deer are one of the nine reported of this family in Peru, and not many publications like this exist in our country and especially no reports exist about the issue of health. Diseases of wild animals are an ecological factor that was not previously taken in consideration and influences the population dynamics of many species. The objective of this study was to propose a health protocol for white-tailed deer of CCEA as an essential component that must be part of their management plans, and can serve as a model for other wildlife in protected natural areas. For the development of this protocol a literature review was done on the species, along with five visits to CCEA for the recognition of the natural area and the standardization of some procedure. This proposal includes recommendations on health assessments that should be performed accompanied by data collection sheets that help to take information orderly and systematically. The latter have been developed for this protocol and are included in the annexes of the document
