ABSTRACT This thesis makes the analysis of the principles of Fairtrade certification of international trade, with regard to socio-economic development in coffee producing families, which are measured by criteria that are related to the principles of this certification. In the present investigation it was determined that represents a great opportunity to be part of one, both economically and socially, also, correct and proper treatment ensures fair trade network competitiveness in international trade. Finally, for this investigation, it has been concluded that there is unfavorable because not demonstrated compliance with the principles of fair trade, families have maintained their social status and in some cases declined, on the other hand, level of knowledge of producers about the services provided by the Cooperative is scarce and in some cases zero, because they have a system of dissemination of appropriate information. With regard to social development is not favorable alteration suffered because inequalities are evident economic rewards, moreover, economic development has no substantial improvements, because they receive the actual price to obtain this certification.
