Abstract: El objetivo del presente estudio consistió en relacionar el apoyo social y el estrés percibido. La muestra está conformada por 160 docentes de primaria de Lima Metropolitana. Los instrumentos utilizados incluyeron el Cuestionario de Apoyo Social MOSS de Sherbourne y Stewart (1991) y la Escala de Estrés Percibido de Cohen, Kamarck y Mermelstein (1983). Se obtuvo una relación negativa y significativa entre el apoyo social y estrés (r = -213, p<.01). Se encontraron relaciones significativas entre el estrés positivo y las dimensiones del apoyo social. Sin embargo, no se hallaron diferencias significativas en los promedios del apoyo social y estrés con respecto a las variables sexo, gestión del colegio y tiempo de labor en el centro educativo.
The objective of the present study was to relate social support and stress. The sample consisted of 160 school teachers from Metropolitan Lima. The instruments used included the MOSS Social Support Questionnaire by Sherbourne and Stewart (1991) and the Perceived Stress Scale by Cohen, Kamarck and Mermelstein (1983). A negative and significant relationship was obtained between social support and stress (r = -213, p <.01). In addition, significant relationships was found between positive stress and the dimensions of social support. However, no significant differences were found in the means of social support and stress with respect to the variables gender, school (public or private) and work time in the school.
