ABSTRACT The main objective of this research is to evaluate the expansion potential and the bearing capacity (CBR) of clayey soils used in subraces by adding rice husk ash (CCA). The methodology of this research consisted in characterizing the Natural soil, its plasticity, expansion and bearing capacity (CBR); As well as soil combined with rice husk ash in the percentages of 4%, 7% and 10%. The results showed that the expansion increased by 0.43% with the 10% ash content, but decreased by 16.84% and by 21.12% for the ash contents of 4% and 7%, respectively. The same behavior can be seen in the carrying capacity, the results indicate that the resistance of the soil undergoes a decrease of 0.85% with the addition of 10% of ash, however for additions of 4% and 7% the CBR increased from 2.85% to 4.52% and from 2.85% to 7.80% respectively. Based on the above, it can be concluded that the best soil behavior was achieved with the ash content of 7% and therefore this waste material could be feasible in the treatment of clayey soils used in subraces.
