ABSTRACT This study aimed to generally reduce rework costs by proposing development of Lean Manufacturing in the area Factory painted Bruce Company SA. For which, at first stay described the current state of painting area Factory Company Bruce S. A, in this way allowed us to propose the development of a proposal to improve by reducing rework costs, while an analysis to what extent the proposal put forward would help reduce the costs of rework in the painting area. Considering the development of the proposed Lean Manufacturing was the result of the following: The current mapping showed production time of 4.4375 days, with a time of 1234 min processes, with no value added 42.07% and 57.93 % with added value. Moreover, the proposed mapping shows a production time of 4.3956 days, a time of 1364 min process a non-value added 35.05 % and 64.95% with added value. The Takt time of 29.51 hours / unit is the rate that must be managed for the production of buses, considering its components to achieve the goal. In addition, it has reduced the number of orders per year of 24 - 5, taking into account the critical product is AUTOCOAT BT 135 FILLER. Was reduced by the percentage of total production rework from 88 % to 47 %, thus also decreased the total annual cost of rework of S /. 41 177.17 to S /. 21 361.83. You can see that is a considerable reduction, this allows us to suggest that the proposal presented is correct.
