ABSTRACT In the present project, the implementation of a lubrication system in circular knitting machines is carried out, through engineering tools that allow us to reduce the high rate of stopped machines, guaranteeing the correct performance of the lubrication system and improving the use of machines and increase production in the weaving area. The implementation of the lubrication system was based mainly on the use of reliability centered maintenance (RCM) tools such as: The Decision Diagram, identification of system functions, Analysis of Failure Modes and Effects, Consequences of faults, Proactive Maintenance, Predictive tasks, quality control tools and process improvement. This project is developed in the company Textil San Ramón; textile company located in the department of Lima, district of San Luis, marshal Eloy Ureta 226 urbanization el pino; dedicated to the production and sale of knitted yarns and fabrics at a national and international level with exports mainly to Latin American countries such as Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Venezuela and Bolivia. In the present study we were able to identify that the high rate of brown machines was mainly due to an inadequate lubrication system in circular machines. For this we implemented a new lubrication system managed to establish a single version of lubricator per machine model in addition to clearly identify the lubrication points and determine an optimal dosage of the lubricant for each lubrication point according to the article, material and the type of structure of the lubrication. Tissue, a type of maintenance was also established for this system and thus guarantee the correct functioning. With the new lubrication system in circular machines, we managed to reduce machine downtime by 46%; production after implementation increased by 32% in the first 6 months of 2017 compared to the same period of 2016. With the implementation of this new lubrication system we satisfactorily fulfill our objectives of reducing downtime and increasing production.
