The production and marketing of cotton in Peru has suffered a decline in recent years, due to many factors that have been added throughout its development as: Low national productivity, limited research and innovation, low prices caused by global overproduction and the appearance of new varieties with better benefits in their use. The objective of this research is to describe the determinants that affect the production and commercialization of cotton to the state of Florida - USA. in the 2018 period; Given that there are several varieties of cotton, the present investigation is going to be oriented to the cotton variety Tanguis (Gossypium barbadense), family of the Malváceas. The producers of the province of Palpa, department of Ica, which have the production and marketing capacity of 20 to 50 thousand tons per season, will be analyzed. The production and commercialization of Tanguis cotton is being affected by the low prices offered by the market due to the high demand of cotton worldwide. Ica growers are changing the production of Tanguis cotton for other crops with greater profitability; the lack of innovation in the cultivation process and the low production capacity have given room for competition to enter the market with greater ease and cause the decline of national production, as farmers are not prepared to offset problem size by what the textile industries are importing large volumes of cotton from other countries such as the US to cover the national and international demand. The present work has a non-experimental transverse research design, it was used as an instrument to a survey with objective questions in order that the results have greater truthfulness. It was concluded that the determinants that affect the production and marketing of Tanguis cotton from the province of Palpa, department of Ica to the state of Florida, in the period 2018 are: global overproduction of cotton, limited research and development in the subject seeds, a high cost in financing, complicated and expensive distribution channels, an unstable supply and demand for the product. According to the results obtained, these determinants are what caused the decline of the national production of Tanguis cotton. Taking into account the magnitude of this research and depending on the results obtained, suggestions will be made focused on the producers of the province of Palpa, with the purpose of increasing national productivity and the profitability of the cotton business.
