A case-control study was conducted in which a survey of 20 people with hypertension (cases) and 40 people without hypertension was conducted to determine the factors influencing high blood pressure during the periods from September to November of the year 2019. The main objective of this research was to identify the risk factors associated with arterial hypertension in patients 40 to 60 years of age in the white cross health post - Chincha. September - November, 2019. Among the results we found were that within the biological factor: people who constantly consume food have 4 times with an ODDS Ratio (OR = 4.5) more risk of being hypertensive than people who consume their food on a regular basis. Also, we found that people with a family history are almost 4 times (OR = 3.09) more likely to get high blood pressure and finally obese people are three times more likely to risk high blood pressure (OR = 3.0) than people with a normal weight. Also, within the food factor, people who consume foods with a high salt content are about 7 times (OR = 6.9) more likely to suffer from high blood pressure and in people who smoke they are 3 times (OR = 3.0) more likely of risk of presenting hypertension.
