Abstract: Objective: To determine the relationship between the styles of parental socialization and the depressive symptomatology in the adolescents of the public educational institution. 22305 Julio Cesar Tello - Ica. Material and methods: The present work is of quantitative type, basic level, correlational method and cross section. The sample consisted of 136 adolescents in third, fourth and fifth year of secondary school between the ages of 13 and 17. Two instruments already validated and adapted to our reality were used: the ESPA29 (Parental Socialization Scale for adolescents) and the CDI (Children depression inventory). Results: It was possible to find a high percentage of the adolescents surveyed who present the authoritative parental socialization style (48.76% for the father and 50.03% for the mother) while another large percentage (51.24% for the father and 49.97% for the mother) have the other styles of parental socialization (negligent, forgiving and authoritarian). Also, that 55.9% do not present depressive symptoms, while 44.14% do. Likewise, that the parental styles that are most associated with depressive symptoms for both parents are: Negligent style (92% by mothers and 88% by fathers) and Authoritarian style (92.85% by mothers and 100% by fathers). Finally, the chi-square test for both parents with an asymptotic significance of 0 and 3 degrees of freedom shows a dependency or association between the styles of parental socialization and depressive symptoms in adolescents, as well as the Pearson and Spearman correlation indices. for both parents who demonstrate a level of significance of zero. The null hypothesis is rejected: "The styles of parental socialization are not related to the depressive symptoms in adolescents of a public educational institution”. Conclusions: From the present study it can be concluded that there is a relationship between the styles of parental socialization and depressive symptoms in adolescents of the Public Educational Institution 22305 Julio Cesar Tello. Also, a high percentage of the adolescents surveyed present depressive symptoms, of which the parental styles that are most associated with this were the authoritarian and negligent styles. Key words: Relationship, styles of parental socialization, depressive symptoms, adolescents.
