Given the increasing use of fertilizers and pesticides by the rice farming dynamics of the Shica sector, Soritor district, Moyobamba province, this research sought to verify the levels of contamination generated by compounds derived from pesticides and fertilizers in the waters of the Tonchima River. To do this, we identified the area affected by the rice farming dynamics and named it "zone of influence". Once the area was identified, we selected the sampling points and the dates on which the sampling would be carried out, then we identified the parameters to be measured, which in our case were the compounds derived from fertilizers (nitrates and phosphorus) and the compounds derived from pesticides (Carbofuran, parathion, malathion, lindane and aldrin). Three sampling points were selected, which were located before, within and after the zone of influence that had been selected. The samples were taken in three rice cultivation processes, which were 10 days, 3 months and 5 months after planting, since it is in these processes where the greatest amount of pesticides and fertilizers are added. The samples taken were sent to a chemical laboratory for their respective analysis, taking into consideration preservation and transportation so as not to contaminate the samples. The results obtained were compared with the water quality standards (ECA's) provided in Supreme Decree N° 004-2017-MINAM - Category 4. Conservation of the aquatic environment, with which it was verified that in some of the selected parameters (nitrates and phosphorus) were not complying with the stipulated in the ECA's. Finally, through the use of some statistical tests, relevant data was obtained, such as the stage that generated the greatest contamination, the sampling point with the highest concentration of contaminants, and it was verified that the contamination is generated within the area of influence and not from activities outside it. With all the information collected, it was concluded that the rice farming dynamics of the Shica sector, Soritor district, has a direct impact on the levels of contamination by pesticides in the waters of the Tonchima River and the corresponding recommendations were made to the authorities in charge.
