The investigation was performed in the city of Moyobamba through the monitoring of noise emission in the 11 gas stations during November - December 2019 and, January - February 2020, with the purpose to determine which is the status of environmental contamination caused by noise in the gas stations of the city. The type of research was basic with a descriptive level. The instrument used to measure the noise was the sonometer and the used technique was the direct observation in the field to determine direct and indirect sources and the environmental quality standards for noise established in the D.S. Nº 085-2003-PCM for daytime and nighttime in residential areas. The state of environmental contamination by noise emission in the gas stations of the city of Moyobamba is high, being found, that it is above the standards of environmental quality according to the D.S. No. 085-2003-PCMD in the residential area, but not in the commercial area. Higher noise levels were recorded, in the morning as well as in the afternoon, at the Repsol (83.2 decibels T.M -82.8 decibels T.T), South America (81 decibels T.M -81.0 decibels T.T), Barcelona (79.01 decibels T.M -80.8 decibels T.T) and Dávila II (80.9 decibels T.M -81.2 decibels T. T), which are located within the city; the gas stations where the highest noise levels were recorded during nighttime hours were: Repsol (82.2 decibels), Dilsar II (82.0 decibels) and Barcelona (80.9 decibels), located within the city, unlike the rest, these are the ones with more sales and are located in streets with a lot of vehicle traffic, in addition, they have minimarkets, which are very visited by people during nighttime hours. The direct sources identified were the place of dispatch (island), maneuvering yard, machine room, air zone, pumps and minimarket present in three gas stations of the city and the only indirect source that has been considered is the vehicle traffic on public roads in the case of gas stations located inside of the city and vehicle traffic on the FBT road for those gas stations located at the entrance and exit of Moyobamba and Tarapoto respectively.
