The objective of this research was to propose a plan that promotes the sustainable ecotourism development of the Lahuarpía waterfalls, in the district of Jepelacio, San Martín, 2017. The research was of an applied type, with a descriptive, propositive level. The procedure was firstly the application of questionnaires and observation cards to collect information on the tourist situation of the place; then, theories related to ecotourism sustainable and subsequent development were analyzed, based on the needs found and supported by the postulates of the theories, the plan proposal was designed. The sample for the descriptive part was 100 people, distributed among 50 residents, 10 business owners and 40 tourists. The results indicate that the degree of sustainable ecotourism development of the Lahuarpía waterfalls, in the district of Jepelacio, San Martín, 2017, in the social, environmental and economic dimensions is from low to moderate, as revealed by the diagnosis of each subdimension indicators of the study variable. Finally, it has been concluded that the proposed plan is consistent with the promotion of sustainable ecotourism development of the Lahuarpía waterfalls, in the district of Jepelacio, San Martín, 2017, because it was designed in accordance with the identified needs in the study area and the guidelines of the theories about sustainable tourism development; this is how the plan proposal comprises three social, environmental and economic dimensions; which also agree with the model of sustainable tourism development proposed by the OMT (2002) and the declaration of Lima (2002).
