The following research work was carried out in the town of Segunda Jerusalén, which has a wastewater treatment plant aimed at meeting the existing demand of the population; however, the plant does not have a mitigation plan that prevents waste water from contaminating the soil and the river when it is evacuated. Therefore, in view of this problem and the accelerated growth of the population, the daily discharge rate of 24.13 L / s was determined. regarding its population, endowment and percentage of design contribution; which, according to its affluent unit flow and unit area, proposes the design of two stabilization ponds alternate to the two existing ones, with dimensions 230 m long and 115 m wide for the primary facultative lagoon, and 220 m long 110 m wide for the secondary facultative lagoon; thus promoting the mitigation and treatment of residual sludge, designed for a period of 20 years. In this regard, the extension area of 36,351.17 m² at the level of the primary lagoon and 33,456.77 m² at the level of the secondary lagoon was determined.
