With the overall objective of determine the effectiveness of the types of pruning branches that influenced the performance and profitability of growing an ecotype of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) In the district of Lamas, the following research was developed in the Horticultural Farm "The Pacific", in the district and province of Lamas, using the Statistical Design of Completely Random Blocks (RCBD) with five treatments, three replicates per treatment. The treatments were: 1 pruning branch (T1), pruning branches 2 (T2), pruning branches 3 (T3), pruning branches 4 (T4) and pruning of 5 branches (T5). Plant height, number of flower clusters per plant, number of flowers per cluster per plant, fruit diameter, fruit length, fruit weight per plant, number of fruit per plant, yield and economic analysis for treatment fruits were evaluated. The conclusions were that the T1 treatment (1 branch pruning) the best average performance reached 20 844.9 kg ha-1, 4.4 cm fruit length, 12.7 g of fruit weight, 6.3 cm in diameter of the fruit, flowers 8.66 / bunch and 215.2 cm tall plant; to fewer branches pruned greater was the number of fruit per plant and the smaller the number of flower / plant bunches, being that with the T5 (five branches) reported the highest average with 59.8 clusters / plant; the largest number of branches pruned reported negative regression lines in plant height, number of flowers / cluster, fruit diameter, fruit length, fruit weight and performance. Likewise, increasing pruned branches reported an increase in the number of flower / plant clusters describing a regression line and positive treatment T1 (1 stick) was obtained as ratio B / C demonstrating that fewer pruned branches yields were higher and consequently the net benefits.
