The purpose of this work was to determine the water quality of the Naranjos River, by means of kinetic coefficients of self-purification, in which physical, chemical and biological parameters were determined such as: dissolved oxygen, fecal coliforms, pH, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5), temperature, phosphates, nitrates, turbidity, total dissolved Solids, for which three monitoring Stations were established, in which the hydrological characteristics of the source were also monitored. By relating the wáter quality parameters and the hydrological characteristics, the kinetic constants were calculated, The deoxygenation rate, for section I is (K1 = 0.37 day -1), section II (K1 = 0.38 day -1) . In the month of September. In addition, reoxygenation in section I (K2 = 0.598 day -1), section II (K2 = 0.61 day -1). For the month of December, for section I (K1 = 0.31 day -1), section II (K1 = 0.32 day -1), for section I (K2 = 0.598 day -1). Section II (K2 = 0.55 day -1). One second for the mass balance analysis in the first measurement of the month of September, for station 001 (K1 = 0.382 day -1) and (K2 = 0.61 day -1), for station 002 (K1= 0.38 day - 1) and (K2=0.62 day -1), for station 003 (K1=0.40 day -1) and (K2 = 0.613 day -1). In the second measurement of the month of December, for station 001 (K1=0.32 day -1) and (K2=0.60 day -1), station 002 (K1= 0.316 day -1) and (K2 = 0.612 day -1), station 003 (K1 = 0.32 day -1) and (K2 = 0.608 day -1). From these results it is concluded that the water quality of the Naranjos River, determined by said means, in Stations 001 and 002 (the towns of San Agustín and El Diamante), as well as for Sections I and II (San Agustín - El Diamante and El Diamante - Naranjos) in the months of September and December; shows critical oxygen with positive values. However in Station 003 (the town of Naranjos) two months of monitoring shows critical oxygen negative values. Thus, it is concluded that there is organic contamination, present in Station 003, and the self-purification process fail to restore the water quality of the Naranjos River after the discharge of wastewater from that locality.
