The present document details on the results obtained in the implementation of the research project called: "Proposal for a plant design of municipal solid waste treatment based on the selective collection, generated in Rioja city, 2015", the same was executed in order to comply with the following specific objectives: to determine the general characteristics of the solid waste generated in Rioja city, to design a selective source collection program for the city of Rioja and to propose the design of a structure capable of treating solid waste generated in Rioja city, based on segregation at the source. It was unable to reach the following conclusions: Characterization of solid waste in of Rioja city is 76.35% of the total generated, which makes a total of 9.90 Tn / day, in which organic matter, paper, paperboard, plastic, PET , Hard plastics, aluminum, ferrous metals, with a density or volumetric house weight of the urban area of Rioja district is determined at 141.57 kg / m3. It has been possible to design the recycling program based on source segregation of Rioja city, which contemplates the social and economic benefits to be obtained with its implementation, as well as the target population, actors, resources necessary for its implementation, coverage, implementation times, strategies, also considers the marketing system of recyclables. It has been possible to design a solid waste treatment structure, using the data provided in the previous sections as the density of the solid waste that is 141.57 kg / m3 and the volume of material to be processed that is 9.90 tons per day, being Take advantage of 75% in the treatment plant, which makes a total of 7.43 tons / day, of which 5.91 tons / day are compostable solid waste and 1.52 tons / day are recyclable solid waste, which served to dimension the necessary equipment to consider in the organic waste treatment plant to obtain compost, as well as the collection plant, the tromel, the conveyor belt, the press, the balance and others.
