The present investigation responds to the question What is the incidence and main indications of cesarean sections at MINSA Hospital, level II-2, Tarapoto, during the period January-December of 2016? for which the main objective of knowing the incidence is raised of the cesarean section and the main indications for its execution, at MINSA Hospital, level II-2, Tarapoto, during the January-December period of 2016, in order to be able to make a critical judgment about this practice, and then make decisions for the improvement in the quality of care and the reduction in the number of cesareans without justification. Chapter I addresses the problem of an increase in the incidence of cesarean sections, surpassing WHO and internationally and nationally recommended values, and the medical and non-medical implications that are triggering it, culminating in the justification and importance of this study. Chapter II defines the objectives of this research based on the problem. In Chapter III a review of the antecedents and theoretical foundations, the classification of the cesarean section, its complications, and the classification of its absolute and relative indications, as well as the demographic and clinical characteristics that were developed in this study are made. Chapter IV describes the strategies, guidelines and means necessary to carry out the research, as well as the description of the study population, from which a sample of 312 patients was extracted. Chapter V shows the results of the investigation, describing the prevalence of cesareans, all the demographic and maternal characteristics described for this study and all the indications recorded, through tables and graphs. In Chapter VI the researcher compares the results with the findings of other studies, making a critical judgment about them, culminating in the conclusions and recommendations in the next two chapters. In this context the study solves the problem, describing the incidence of cesarean section and identifying its main indications at MINSA Hospital, level II-2, Tarapoto, highlighting the critical judgment of the results to elaborate the recommendations, for the benefit of the patient.
