The District of Lamas, the oldest in eastern Peru called Raymondi, the "City of Three Floors" has nine neighborhoods, within these the native Huayco neighborhood, where its inhabitants are features of the indigenous Chancas; Place that was chosen to conduct an interview to the women between the 15 - 68 years, in order to find out how much knowledge you had on the Papanicolaou. 197 interviews were carried out, reaching the following conclusions: The average age of the women studied is 33.90 plus or minus 2.23 years, with married status predominating, with 71.1 percent. The percentage of illiteracy is 51.7 percent, and there is a direct relationship between the level of education and the level of knowledge of these women. The level of knowledge about the Papanicolaou is: Total ignorance 75.6%. Poor 17.2%. Average 6.5%. From these results, it is urgent to encourage health orientation and education campaigns in order to raise the cultural level of this population.
